It's all happening!

Okay everyone, it’s one of those times; everything is moving forward all at the same time! And when I say everything I mean… well, just about everything I’m working on right now is having some kind of public showing in the next few months. Here’s the rundown…

This Tuesday, July 2nd at 7 PM EST, I’m being interviewed by Seth Christenfeld through the York Theatre’s In the Pipeline program! Along with Michael DiGaetano, we’ll be talking about our Miss Humanity musical comedy. Oh, and you’ll be able to see three world premier songs by some mind-blowingly good performers. So come and tune in! Here’s the link.

Also this Tuesday (well, Monday very late probably), the Planet Money Podcast will be broadcasting “Micro-Face: The Musical.” It’s a fantastic short musical by Kit Goldstein-Grant that had a live performance back in May in Brooklyn. Dear readers, I had the distinct pleasure of music directing this fantastic show. So subscribe to the podcast and listen to the show!

“Peter and the Pied Piper,” fresh off its performance at the Lincoln Center’s Summer in the City program last month, is getting performances late August at the Long Island Childrens’ Museum! This is a TYA show based on the Pied Piper story that addresses hate speech and has a ukulele playing rat. What can be better?! If you’re near the Long Island Childrens’ Museum late August, come check the show out! Otherwise, stay tuned; this won’t be the last you’ll see of the Piper.

Back in late 2020, Gil Varod, AJ Freeman, and I wrote a 20 minute musical called “The Carousel of Inevitability and Certain Foreboding” for the New York Public Library’s Across a Crowded Room program. You can find the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQZSOWO-bu8

Well, we’re expanding the idea to a full length show and there are plans afoot to do a presentation in the Fall. So watch this space for more info on how to see this bizarre, surreal take on a classic theme park ride.

Speaking of Across a Crowded Room, I’m participating again this year! So you know what that means; another set of bonkers short musicals coming your way. Performances this year will be November 19th at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the Lincoln Center and, assuming I finish my show on time, you should see a short musical I’m working on with Timothy Johnson and Joan Saltzman. Wish us luck!

My one-woman song cycle, “The Baroque Cycle”, is getting full performances in November through New York Theatre Festival’s Winterfest at Theater Latea in Manhattan! I’ll be posting A LOT more about this when we get closer, but for now, you can check out this video of a reading of the show from 2019. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuHtYZFp0Rk

And that should finish out the year! Of course, other things will be coming up too. I expect Miss Humanity will have another public performance or two. My musical, That Punk, Robin Hood! should be finished in the fall, so look out at the beginning of 2023 for more info. And who knows what else!
